Our People
Cat Jones

Cat is a freshwater ecologist specialising in the role of nutrients in freshwater ecosystems and water quality.
They lead efforts in the Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water to collect and organise scientific evidence on the impacts of climate change, biodiversity loss, and water quality on a variety of ecosystems across the islands of Ireland and Great Britain.
They are looking at impacts on both ecosystem and human health and investigating the use of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), to collate and analyse the vast amounts of data available. This work will inform the development of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to address societal issues stemming from climate change, biodiversity loss, and declining water quality.
They previously worked in Canada and the United States with a variety of governmental and community agencies to address water quality issues in the Kawartha Lakes in Ontario and the Great Lakes.
